St. Sebastian’s Swim Team is looking for Boys and Girls interested in a competitive, fun team atmosphere. We
expect that children joining the team have mastered basic swimming skills of breathing with face in the water,
strokes of freestyle and backstroke, and the ability to dive. We do not offer swim lessons.
** Whereas we encourage you to try out for the team, please be advised that we have limited space available. We
are especially interested in and have the most space available for 8-year-old and younger boys and girls. **

Criteria: MUST be able to swim without stopping two lengths of the pool (25 yards each) – one each of
Freestyle and Backstroke. Must be able to dive. Other strokes Butterfly/Breaststroke are a plus. Be sure to bring
your bathing suit, bathing cap, swim goggles, and towel.
New swimmers will swim in GROUP 1 or Group 2, (depending on age and skill) which meets 3X a week: Monday
and Thursday 3:30 to 4:30// 4:15-5:30 respectively and Sunday mornings at 7:00-8am// 8am-9am. Competitive
Swim Meets are held on Friday nights. However both swim together from end of Sept – May 1. Please check your
schedules prior to trying out to ensure that you are able to commit to our practice and meet times.
To ensure the safety of all our swimmers, we require that parents participate in locker room monitoring and
supervision as well as the many positions needed to run a program like this one.
This program is a Volunteer Program and CANNOT survive without the help of volunteer parents.
Fees: St. Sebastian Swim Team runs from September to early May (that’s 9 months!) Fees for the 2022-2023
Season are $400.00. per child. Bathing Suit and equipment fees are not known at this time, but plan approximately
$75 to $100 per child. We will hold a swim team fundraiser and expect participation from our families –
approximately $150 per swimmer. We will do our best to see that children are not turned away from the program
due to financial constraints.
